time capsule
private commission
Medium: found and recycled standing lamps, reclaimed metal, non-toxic resin, dried plants collected over time from the client’s garden, and components from old mechanical watches.
time capsule (2025) is a private commission for an Edinburgh-based client that I’m particularly proud of. This project offered me a wonderful opportunity to experiment with contemporary garden sculpture combining recycled standing lamps with natural materials sourced directly from the client’s garden.
Inspired by Erland Cooper’s Glacier artwork, the piece evolved over nine months, from the initial concept to its full completion. I was fortunate to work with a client who embraced playful experimentation, actively engaged in the creative process and trusted my vision, and the power of unrestricted artistic flow.
As with most of my artistic projects, time capsule didn’t happen in isolation. I’m deeply grateful to Edinburgh Open Workshop for providing access to facilities and hands-on welding training, and to Kateryna Tsyvunova for her invaluable assistance with resin pouring techniques and the final assembly of the sculpture.
You can watch the making of time capsule in my Instagram highlights under the same title. This project’s quirky nature and collaborative energy made it a joy to create and reminded me how much I love transforming everyday objects into something poetic. I am excited to keep exploring this direction and to create more site-specific sculptures in the future. Open to both public and private commissions as part of my evolving practice.
