in the wake of a shattered dream
11 - 25 April 2025
Scot-ART, St. Margaret House, Edinburgh
Medium: recycled laminated glass, engraved and inked writing, crashed glass fragments of previous artworks.
in the wake of a shattered dream is inspired by themes of transformation and the personal experience of having a dream that was broken and unfulfilled. The repurposed glass serves as a metaphor for shattered dreams much like the wake left behind after a boat passes . The engraved writing and inked details add layers of personal reflection. The inclusion of the crashed fragments of one of my past artworks into writing symbolises my journey of personal reinvention, where brokenness is reimagined and given new meaning.
In creating this piece, I reflected on both the emotional and practical impact of my lost dreams and unachieved goals over the years. In a way this piece is a visual meditation on the lessons learned, the new hopes earned, and the search for beauty within a shattered dream.
The artwork was created during my Exploring the glass residency programme at ScotArt, St. Margaret House, Edinburgh in March 2025 facilitated by Alina Litvinova, and then was exhibited as a part of the peer cohort in the following month.
